4 Rules to Make Disgusting Websites
Monday, September 1st, 2008Are you designing disgusting websites? Well, is up to you!
These are the top features that make very disgusting websites, count how many are you using in your site and you’ll have a clear idea on how disgusting your website is.
Hint: avoid them and you’ll be OK!
1) Use splash pages
These empty pages are the first pages you see when you arrive at a website. Don’t use words like “click here to enter” or “welcome” and you’ll piss off your visitors by completely annoying them! What do they have to do? Let them figure out with these pages with no real purpose or content.
2) Plenty of excessive banner advertisements
People have trained very hard themselves to totally ignore and dislike banner advertisements, so plague your pages with them and you’ll have very disgusted visitors running away of your site, feeling hard pushed to buy.
3) Use confusing navigation
The most disgusting websites are those where people get lost easily. Complicated Flash based menus or very long multi-tiered dropdown menus can do this job pretty well. If your visitors don’t know how to navigate, they will leave your site, confusion means “abandon ship”!
4) Here’s the best one: use audio on your site
If you want disgusting websites, you will want to make sure your visitors are annoyed by some audio looping on and on on your website. Make sure they don’t have some control over it such as volume or muting controls and your goal is done! Visitors: disgusted at their most!
