Free Traffic Alerts Review

If you’re in the States, there are some free traffic alert services to choose, were you can find updated (real-time) information about the routes.

Traffic.com is a free service where you can register first for a complete free traffic alert experience. For the free signup, you must enter the following data: city, username, password and email address; and then you wil have access to the free services, where you can find information by state and city. There are maps and videos where the traffic alerts are displayed. In the map you can choose to display:

  • Flow
  • Incidents
  • Roadwork

And a complete traffic summary is displayed below the interactive graphic map.
There is also a Traffic Hotspots listing, by route with a graphic bar that shows a value between 0 to 10, from clear to jammed.

Gmtma.com stands for Greater Mercer Transportation Management Association. As a part of their Traffic Alert Program, they include the Traffic Alert Network, a free email or text message service. It provides information about construction, accidents and incidents that are expected to modify traffic and transit. To sign up for alerts, you must provide Name, email address, and if you want cell phone text messages, your full 10 digit cell phone number and your service provider.
Freesmsalerts.com allows cellular phone users to receive alerts of their choice. To sign up you’re asked to enter: firt name, last name, cell phone number, provider and email address.
Besides free traffic alerts, they offer free weather alerts and free sms alerts.
